Strengthening the ‘E’ In HREDD – why the environment is a key dimension for sustainable supply chains

The article highlights the increasing relevance of legislative approaches to due diligence relating to human rights and the environment in the supply chain, especially in the context of human rights and environmental aspects. The focus here is on the interaction between human rights and environmental issues in supply chains, as has been clearly underlined by the European Union’s new Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The study offers a comprehensive overview of existing measures on promoting environmental due diligence in the G7 countries and beyond, with the aim of promoting international dialogue. Options for improving the effectiveness of these measures are also highlighted.
